Seems she came 7th in an X-factor series so not exactly a "star"!
Question Author
the term is so overused now
It's like when they say 'Well-loved star who was in Coronation St.'
You look them up and find they were in it once about 30 yrs ago.
those mandolin things are bleeding dangerous, especially to the clueless.

I saw this morning Corrie "star" to wed, I looked and saw it was that Jonnies daughter who went off to Australia or somewhere, yawwwwwnnn
TTT I think there are shields for those things, but she mustn't have been using one. Silly girl.
i liked her on x factor

yes no doubt tuxedo but a "star"?
Her grandmother was more famous …
As confirmed, Ms Waissel is a 'celebrity' but not a 'star', there is a massive difference.

The former is famous for being famous, the latter is famous for having provided some valuable art for pubic enjoyment.

Ergo - Chloe Kardashian is a celebrity, Mick Jagger is a star.
Some typos are better than others... pubic enjoyment?!
Don't watch the programme so haven't heard of her. A star is someone most people have heard of, whether they like them or not, and who has stood the test of time.

My nephew must be a star then. He played one of Ritas' paper boys 35 years ago in Corrie. Then he played one of the Rogers in the C4 schools programme, How We Used To Live. It was the series that featured the spy scandal in the early 60's.
I remember her on X factor.

Always use the plastic finger guard thing that grips the onion* when using a mandolin.

*other sliceable vegetables are available
To be fair, the headline/article does qualify the term with the X-factor prefix, and she hasbeen a star on that programme.
A newspaper headline that reads ‘Someone you’ve never heard of (and will never hear of) has been injured using a kitchen implement’ doesn’t sell papers.
