It was bound to happen.

He looked so cute in his little uniform. He seemed a bit unsure at first but, after kissing us both goodbye, he walked off holding his water cup in one hand and his new teacher's hand in the other. He never looked back.

I was choked as I walked away and OH just laughed at me.

I'm choked up now.

Awwwww. By the time Christmas is over you'll be glad to send him back to school :D

You may be right, Barry!
Bless him. The first day is always emotional and nerve-wracking for parents but you get used to it.

Little Tigs started yr8 yesterday and I was nervous after the problems he had last year. He said he had a good day though so I feel more relaxed now. Hope it stays that way.
Awwwww I’d be exactly the same. Sending you a huge hug xxx
My grand daughter is starting school today , as well
My little nephew started reception this week too.

I bet you can't wait to hear all about it, Bazile.

Thanks, Smowball.

Tiggs, I hope little Tiggs is okay. It was upsetting hearing about that stuff last year.
Thanks LCG x

I've asked the school to apply for an EHCP but failing that they are working on additional support for him and other students with difficulties.
You'll hear all about it at lunchtime, LCG.

I will, Tilly. I am clock-watching, sad as that sounds.

Fingers crossed for you, Tiggs x
Ahhh. Nothing unusual in mums crying on the day they say farewell to their babies.
Thanks LCG x
I was choked seeing my 18 grandson getting out of his car with his brand new company laptop yesterday ( his first day )
These milestones never go unnoticed

I'm surprised OH didn't get choked too, but he's probably just putting on a brave face. He'll be calling me as soon as I've picked our little boy up.

Quite true, Bobbi, and it doesn't matter how old they are or how big and strapping they grow...
I bet he didnt look as cute when he came home - socks at half mast, shirt half out and half in, hair looking as though he'd been pulled through a hedge backwards....aw. Hope ye had a good day.
My grandsons returned to school yesterday. They both came home happy, younger one had been given a 'house' point and a boy the older one does not like was sent to the head for fighting. Result all round.
my daughter went back eagerly (wonder how long that'll last!)
she was a bit bored towards the end of the holidays.
I remember her first day - 2 teachers had to come and peal her off me as she was screaming and tears were streaming down my face as i walked away, so i feel you LCG
He's probably trying to get a life. LCG.
One confident little boy going off to school for the first time …just goes to show confident parenting in action so we’ll done both of you :))
