And?
Why is that a disaster?
Caran can't type any more, Tony. Her keyboard is covered in Christmas pudding ;-)
Lol Chris
I would imagine pud all over the microwave!!
Unless they were huge portions that's too long - hope there isn't much damage.
Microwaving plastic?
Darwin award coming up.
Of course you can microwave plastic.
... and a lid? Not tightly on I hope.

Sorry can't post for long as iPad plays up.

Anyway as micro finishes the kitchen fills with black smoke, really choking stuff. I open micro, top of dish has melted away. I pick it up and there is no bottom to plastic dish. Pudding is like concrete. Micro plate is black with burnt plastic.

Thank heavens I only did 5 minutes. Micro has a fault and can't do longer than five.
Smoke alarms going off for hours.
oh my, what a mess.

Lid was on tightly!
Caran, no - not ever.
You and smow should start a demolition business, caran.
From memory (which doesn't need to go that far back, as Christmas was only a few months ago), I'd guess at around 45 seconds being the correct time to microwave a single portion of Christmas pud.

Looking at the instructions for an Asda single-serving pud says "Microwave - From Ambient: 700W 50 Secs, 900W 40 Secs"
https://groceries.asda.com/product/christmas-puddings-desserts/asda-extra-special-9-months-matured-luxury-christmas-pudding/1782861
which seems to confirm my estimate.

With the high sugar content in a Christmas pud, I'd expect it to catch fire if it was microwaved for 10 minutes!
A small Christmas pudding only takes 30 seconds max
Some plastics not suitable for microwaving. Hope the damage is not too bad.
^^^ Crossed posts - but my guess at what would happen if you microwaved a Christmas pud for that long seems to be reasonably accurate ;-)

No permanent damage. We cleaned everything up.
Finished daughters Christmas cake instead.
