...and you were daft enough to watch it all, then?
Switched off after the first five minutes.
Gollob, I’m afraid the glory days of the RVP are long gone, a bit like Miss World , it no longer gets the audiences it did, time to scrap it now
I managed about 2 mins before turning over
I agree it's not so popular, we have so much more to choose from now.

I think it should be retained for the funds it raises however.

It's decades since I last watched it but it seems that you're not alone in your view, Gollob:

just read Chris's link. Making jokes about the children, any minor in fact, is off limits imo.
Hope that's the last time that pair host anything.
Thank goodness for the remote record, whizzed past most of it. Felt sorry for William and Kate having to suffer such drivel. Robbie Williams woeful, where’s Cliff when you need him! Agree it has lost its glory days!
Sad really. In the late Fifties and early Sixties it was a Must Watch for almost all families, but it has slowly gone down since then. I haven't watched it since the last Century.
Recorded it, whizzed through it in no time. Dire is not strong enough.
I can't remember ever watching it. I haven't the patience to sit through dross in the hope there might be something worth watching.
Canary...how many channels did you have back then?
Recorded it because I wanted to see the BGT winner, but I know when I watch it back, I will be rushing through the majority of it ! Definitely past its best.
hereIam, didn't think he was that good really. Think he picked the wrong song for his voice. Only watched parts of the show though as was tired from travelling for most of the day and slept through a lot of it. Seems like I didn't miss much.
Dire.
It’s a long time since I watched it in fact it could have been in 1964 or there abouts when the Beatles were on:0/
When I was growing up there were programmes throughout the year that we all watched and wouldn't dream of missing - they marked the year like Christmas and summer holidays. The Royal Variety was one, the Edinburgh Tattoo, Last Night of the Proms, the New Year's Eve show (Donald Where's Yer Trooosers!), the Disney show at Christmas and Easter, the circus (Easter?), The Queen's Speech..... viewing habits have changed. It didn't mean the programmes were good :D
theshedman - what did he sing please ?
I didn't see it but comedians just aren't funny any more. This one made a mistake too.

^ He just isn't funny anyway imo.
