Get to the self service tills and select carrots while weighing more expensive vegetables.

Eh ?
Don't understand ..
Never done that - I don't use the self service tills either.
Ooooo....naughty, Sandy!
Being dishonest you mean??
Ah I'm with you now. NO!
Tee hee, you're a naughty boy Sandy.
No but I'm a random dabber if I can't see what I've chosen and get impatient :)

It was mentioned on radio 4 today. The ingenuity of people never ceases to amaze me
Wouldn't work in Scotland - anyone buying more than one vegetable sets off an alarm ...
everything's got to weigh right, hasn't it? The durians are just so much heavier than carrots.
You see all sorts going on in the supermarket. Once there were bags of cherries, all the same weight and the same price showing on the bar code. I saw a man open a second bag of cherries and put some in another bag so getting more for his money. He must have felt so pleased with himself. Nothing more than a common thief!
Foxlee - and, of course, some other poor soul got an underweight bag.
It's all on CCTV.

Anthony Worral Thompson fell from grace over a self service till fiddle.
This is just the successor to the old trick, before the advent of bar codes, of swapping price labels, e.g. take the label off a tin of beans and stick it on a tin of salmon. It was theft then and remains so today.
That's funny Dave .
No
but it sort of happened the other way round
A bag of pedigree chum dry biscuits damaged with rip taped over had been marked down from £22.50 to 5p I got to the till the assistant called over the manager
He looked at the price then looked at me implied I had swapped the label . But fortunately the reduced price whoops sticker had a description so I clearly had not . He then said " I don't Know how you've managed it but you are not having it at that price you can buy it for £20 if you still want it"
I said "not at that price it says 5p on the label and it is not a full bag "
He said "I am taking it off sale and will not sell it at all "
then walked off with the dog food
but I felt really angry as he was implying I was trying to con the store (ASDA) or rob it even
Of course it is a crime Jackie
The discussion seems to be whether people do it - coz it is only a little crime....( and that means they regard it as OK)

Sociologists discuss whether there is progression thro the disrespect of the law this engenders , to larger and larger crimes ( they say it does)

considering the effect of swizzling thruppence would have on my life - I wouldnt dare.
( Duckhouse or MPs expenses - no I am not an MP - I might have a different view )

I have been stopped - I took out all my "ill gotten" gains ( erm purchases I mean) and then showed him the reciept and asked - which one do you think I havent paid for ?

I read not long ago some man was arrested for doing this - think it was Tescos.
