Her word of the day was "throttlebottom": an inept, bumbling and possibly embarrassing holder of public office.

Ooh, wonder who she could be describing?

My husband has a serious crush on her!
I noticed Susie also had a non-too-veiled dig at The Donald a few editions ago ...

Trumpˈery

(noun)
Showy and worthless stuff
Rubbish
Ritual foolery

(adjective)
Showy but worthless
Sunny Dave, the word "trumpery" was around well before Donny.

From vocabulary.com: "Trumpery comes from the Old French tromperie[i, with its root of [i]tromper], "to deceive.""

It's just a happy coincidence in it's Trump-iness.

I rather think Maggiebee might have been meaning a little closer to home in the OP.

Mozz, think it could refer to quite a few lol. Redhelm, my son has a massive crush on Judith Ralston who does the weather forecasts. Not sure if that's just in Scotland though.

I had spotted the Boris shaped target - but couldn't resist adding a trumpery sidebar.
A great back story to the word too.

I have to say, that Susie Dent doesn't look anywhere near her 56 years of age.
Very rude of her to insult Nicola that way.

I agree Hoppy, extremely rude of her!
