Anyone else on here suffering from an obsession in their life? I have just pegged my washing out and yet again I have systematically paired all the ankle socks up on the line, not for the first time, and yet again I don't peg out the spare unmatching socks, i put them in the naughty corner, i.e. ontop of the tumbler. I must be getting better as on monday I chucked the lot in the tumbler and left them to it.

Mine's handwashing especially when I've been shopping, when I get home I get this urgent need to wash my hands after handling money as I dont know where its been. I just have to place my chair in a certain position and I must touch my crucifix before I go out..Phew. Me mad? Never!

whenever i have a huge pile of ironing, the only way i can get thru it is to do 5 items then have a break, then go back and do another 5 etc etc.Mad I know, but its the only way it would ever get done!!

LMFAO @ 'The naughty corner' :o)

I can't have the volume on my TV on an odd number. Unless the number ends in 5. But I won't even consider having it on 13. I thought this was just me being crazy until recently I was in the car with my dad and he was fiddling about with the volume on his radio. Then he said to me 'I can't have it on an odd number'! How weird! I must have got it from him even though I had never seen him do it before! Lol.

I also can't go to bed unless I have had a wee. I will go to the bathroom and get ready and have a wee then if I don't get straight into bed and I start doing something else like sorting something out. I have to have another wee before I sleep. Lol

well IAP it isn't OCD until it actually takes over your life and stops you functioning in the real world, which may mean any of us spending too long on here may be suffering lol

In that case Dot, the internet is my OCD. I can't stop and I have to check it all the time. Lol

Fina - I do that too. I wash my hands all the time. Especially when I get back from shopping. I used to know a guy whose secretary washed her hands once every 5 mins and she did it for years and years until one day she got a boyfriend and suddenly she stopped washing them! Weird huh?! I know thats not why I do it though. I did it when I was with my ex too.

Hi I.A P. I would'nt say any of us here have serious ocd and its good that we can laugh about it cos as dot says any serious ocd can take over peoples lives. I reckon everyone has a "Thing" about something. Serious Ocd is usually brought on by high levels of stress/anxiety mostly something post traumatic. So Rubes you do the same as me? I mean, where has that money been! I would say your friend's compulsion stopped cos she's happy her b/f and good luck to her. x

Well I think I'll have join in on this.

All my cd's / dvds are in alpha order. All furniture is at perfect angles. Always stock the fridge the same way, milk cartons / yoghurts / cans always face the same way. I agree with the money notes as well. Blinds in the house always at the same angle till closed - spooky stuff I know. I've been told I'd make a great burglar !

Fina - Mine isn't just coz of the money though. Its coz of door handles and railings and things like that! Ewwwwww. Lol. Plus if I go to someone elses house and stroke their dog or cat I then have to go to the loo and wash my hands. I don't want to seem rude and just wash them so I make an excuse to use the loo. Lol

I'm Ok generally but can't bear cupboards and drawers left open, my Mum does it and i have to go round banging them all shut! My hubby is like Rubyrose though. Can't have the TV on No. 13. Drives me mad cause thats just about spot on for me. Also, when he's looked on teletext, he always has to put it back to page 100 before he'll switch it off. Why is that???he does the money all the same way round and i do the walnut whip thingy too RB. Great question dot

Julie I do that. It has to be back to 100 so its neat and tidy and the listings are there again. *blush*

What is the difference between neatness and order and obsessiveness? Is it the shrill voice you adopt when something is out of place?

I'm obsessive too! Mine's more about how far apart things are from each other and making them in line - knife and fork have to be exactly the same distance from each other and the place mat when I lay the dinner table! And if the tablecloth is a checked pattern, I have to line them up with the pattern and still make them an equal distance!! And everything on my desk at work is spaced out equally!! And even if i'm sitting with my hand on my bf's leg or something, I make sure my fingers are all the same distance apart!! How wierd is that! I do it without thinking! I do the walnut whip money thing too!

ktlou you are the worst yet!!!!!!!!!!!! the fingers on the knee thing! What is that all about? (is that the same as when you hold hands when you are walking you have to turn your watch strap a certain way or it bugs the hell out of u?)
I always have to walk with my boyfriend on my right hand side and hold his left hand with my right hand, it would drive me mad to be on the other side. He thinks Im nuts when I say I cant walk on the 'wrong side' of him.
i wash my dishes by group - plates then cups then cutlery then pots/pans.
the number 7......its the number of God (me)
6 is the number of the Devil....so if anything I do comes up to the number 6...I have to do one more

dot def notes the same way, its what my shop manager taught me
