i have not looked it up on Google, but do know a few people who have taken it, and they said it's highly addictive?
Question Author
though this was many years ago, so any help would be much appreciated.
It's an opiod.
Depending on the dosage it can induce hallucinations and dependency.
Doubt very much your dosage would have those side effects.
Can also cause constipation, get the prune juice ready.
Question Author
the last meds caused constipation and sent me off into nod land, not good...
Like any strong pain killer it is very addictive. It is also a good pain killer. You can read about it here:-

Question Author
thanks 1ozzy, Danny....
You have got your Internet link and you have to decide whether the reported side effects and possible addiction, is worth the relief of your pain.

Only you can decide.
Question Author
i know sqad, but looking through Danny's link it might well interact with other meds i take, will have to think about it, but any help is always appreciated.
Your doctor knows what medication you’re on. He wouldn’t have prescribed it if you shouldn’t be taking it.
I know people who have used tramadol and had no side effects but when I had a knee op I was given them afterwards and did not get on with them. I felt like I was going to faint, felt really ill and the sweat was running off me, contacted doctor and was told to stop taking them straight away. The only way to find out if they help you is to try them.
Question Author
my doctors are all different and don't necessarily know what i take, they have had to look up the notes on me as one was going to prescribe amitriptyline, then decided that it wouldn't do after he consulted the computer notes, i take anti depressants and an anti psychotic drug and a variety of other meds. So he switched it to tramadol after going through other pain relief meds that i have had before that had nasty side effects.
Question Author
tsm, i know, am deliberating but Danny's list isn't hopeful...
Question Author
i wasn't sure if anyone had taken it, Tsm you seem to be the only one.....
Question Author
will try it and see...
I hope it works for you, Emmie. My dad took it, but stopped because it made him feel “doolally”.
Emmie, I took Tramadol for a couple of months without any problems but everyone is different.
try it and see
yes like all powerful pain killer it has side effects
BUT - they may not worry you
( codeine constipates me but others put up with it)
OR they may not figure in yourself ( your metab is slightly diff to others and that is important )
// Your doctor knows what medication you’re on. He wouldn’t have prescribed it if you shouldn’t be taking it.//

and so there is no need for the well used yellow card system

ho hum such wisdom on AB - Danny is correct - BA - try it and see, it may be OK

Cloverjo is correct - but you have to try it and see - so people just say, " oh yeah - day dreams"
It is licensed for children so there is no doubt it is safe
PP, her doctor does know what medication she's on.
