So after my smear test I felt so much better but all this waiting around is driving me mad. She said 4-6 weeks. I'm almost at the end of week one and panicking all the time
Anyone got any advice on anxiety?

I usually find a large glass or two of wine effective in alleviating anxiety :-)

Ha ha yes that does help! Did that last night!
What, in your condition NOM?

My condition?!
It wasn't a typo :-)
surprised they can't give you the result any sooner, can't you ask why it takes so long, because i don't recall having to wait 4-6 weeks...
as to anxiety, deep breathing exercises can help, mindfulness can help, try your GP for advice.

4-6 weeks for results
No, not in my condition, Hopkirk. I was talking in general.

A tiny drop of wine wouldn't hurt, except that it causes indigestion right now so I steer well clear.
Medication! :-)

Ohhh I was confused there!
apparently 2 to 6 weeks is the standard time around the UK. You were advised to talk to your doctor about your anxiety, have you done that?

I have an appointment in 2 weeks. That's the soonest I could get :)
Is there a reason why you're so particularly worried about this result? I do understand though, we are so inundated by cancer via the media nowadays. I've had smears all my life and never worried particularly but last time it took me 4 weeks to actually open the letter when it came. I got in such a state for absolutely nothing and wished I'd opened it when it came. It may not help but lots of women are probably worrying about the same thing at the same time as you. As you've been told stop googling!!

It's because I had missed a few. I have absolutely no symptoms and I never have. It's just got bigger and bigger in my head x
