Got a 'mole'...or something that looks like one... on my abdomen. Had it about 2-3 weeks. Its only small but has been bleeding. Its not itchy or painful but is it worth while bothering my GP with? Not to fond of visiting the doctors unless absolutely necessary.
Thanks.

^ I seem to remember reading that if a child gets sunburn before the age of 5, they will be at risk of melanoma in later life
The commonest and most likely lesion would be a benign mole.
You haven't told us about the colour or the shape........but it almost certainly benign (not malignant)
yes SJ
at booking the derm said

no of bad sun burn episodes under the age of 11

and I kinda simpered and said o yeah I will remember that ( and I have) - oh and if it a BCC you can curette it up to 5 times
I think it needs to be checked, but no need to rush off to your GP tomorrow.
My dad has had various skin cancers chopped out, and they were were the least worrying-looking moles on his body.
Thanks PP Just trying to understand what you mean but I am getting there x
Anything like any of these in shape and colour, to help Sqad further, nailit....it's the bleeding that's a bit concerning.

Perfectly round, dark brown. About the size of half of a fivepence. Quiet small.
It's a benign mole.
That's quite big actually
Question Author
not like any of those yogi.
Its only bled when ive been in the bath (or at least only noticed the bleeding when in the bath)

First bit of good news tonight, thanks Sqad :-)
That's reassuring...Sqad is, hopefully, spot on....I will leave you to it on your thread, nailit...and good luck, have a great weekend, as I'm gigging all weekend from tomorrow. Enjoy your DIY'ing :-)
Well, a mole that is half the size of a 5p piece is big. How come you haven't noticed it before?
Question Author
Thanks yogi ;-)
Could also be a "Campbell de Morgan spot".........common in middle age or the elderly, totally harmless and nothing to worry about.
Google it.
Question Author
237, it isn't that big, a 5p is small. A mole half that size is smaller. Got a few body moles anyway so didn't really notice until it was bleeding.
Question Author
Thanks Sqad, that reassuring. Will look it up.
Just the bleeding thing that got me a bit tho.
Yes, as everybody else has said, get it checked! I wouldn't be too concerned so far. Mr J2 has horrible crusts on his head (they are pre-cancerous cells after years of exposure to sunlight). They are under control, mostly, but all, so far, have been non-malignant. He had to have a squamous cell lump off his arm in May - it's fine now. Please don't worry too much as yet. :)
Get it checked, get it checked, get it checked. And I know what I am talking about!

Thanks Jourdain, appreciate it.
