Over a long girly lunch yesterday we got around to chatting about partners/hubbies as per usual! We were asking each other what we would never ever forgive them for doing. All very different answers, but most of us had a specific thing that we just could not forgive.

So is there anything specific that you ladies(and men!) just wouldnt be able to forgive, or would it entirely depend on the circumstances?

I would never forgive cheating. Anything else depends on the circumstances.
good afternoon smowball.

i could never forgive anyone who lied to me -- whatever their reason.
Violence towards me or my children.

Been there, done that. Never again.

Afternoon to you both : )

Yes I could never forgive cheating, you would never be able to trust them again.
Lying is a difficult one - guess it would depend on the extent of the lie.
that's a good one 2sp.

i'd never condone violence towards women.

regrets that you have been there.

i can understand your caution about lying but i think in black and white. under such circumstances .... if a lie is told once, how can there be confidence of the truth next time?
Thanks guys, but I'm fine now, honest!

Was a long time ago, I was very young. I'm older and wiser now!
Never be able to trust them and everytime they go out you'd be worried. I'd rather be single.

Violence...that's a difficult one.
What about violence towards men, Excel? Why is that more acceptable?

Hmmm, this is always a tough one to answer, I think unless I've experienced a problem I generally don't know how I'd react. The only thing, I think I could be remotely confident in is not throwing a very good marriage on to the shitheap because he's acted out if character, ie fumble with a tart over a full blown deceitful affair.
I think cheating and lying are grey areas. Depends on the circumstances. I could forgive a quick drunken grope far easier than an emotional attachment.

Lying can sometimes be done to protect a loved one from something that may hurt them. The truth isn't always the best idea.

For instance, I prefer Mr P to lie to me and tell me that I don't have a big wobbly bottom, and that my baby belly has disappeared.
I wouldn't forgive anyone who fell in love with me ! I respect a good judge of character !
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah, the age old differentiaion between deceit and white lies.
I could never forgive my OH if he cheated (obviously), was cruel to animals or wasn't good to his Mum.
White lies are vastly underrated, Duncer.
It all depends what you lie about.

If I was asked questions about my past that I didn't want to answer, I would lie. Honesty is only relevant in the current relationship.
