I can’t even respond to the last poster there to ask her to mind her manners. Since there’s no message from the Editorial staff I assume that this has been done on the whim of a mod. Please sort it out, Ed. When discussions are halted in full flow for no apparent reason it becomes a waste of time contributing at all. The Islam thread went the same way … twice!

As far as I'm aware, this post breaks no rules.... but this fairly recent practice really is becoming very frustrating to the more serious posters here, especially if they've taken the time and trouble to research complex issues.

Thanks for your attention.

From previous comments it's very clear that not many on here actually know, or are friends, with any Muslims.

I was at work and read maggiebee's post
I can never be bothered typing out longish replies on my phone but I thought...when I get to my comp I will post a longish reply.

Ah well...
I don't believe the Eid thread i s closed, Naomi. I've just subscribed to it.
There's a bug in the software which "removes" a subscribed thread from your list if the most recent answer has been removed.
Just had post removed. Sad.
Question Author
jackthehat, //Not recently they haven't, naomi.....and especially not on the threads you mention. //

You're wrong, but never mind. Still no need for rudeness.
It's closed
Question Author
v_e, it's still closed on my screen. I guess you can subscribe even if a thread's closed.
Apologies, got that wrong.

I went to post a "Now you see me , now you don't" answer on the thread and I see that the answer box has disappeared.

It's bizarre, isn't it?

-- answer removed --
No, I'm not, and it's not rude if it's just an 'inconvenient truth'.

//Give somebody a bit of power, and don't be surprised when they use it simply because they can. Litter wardens, police, the European Union, and of course, the AB mods//

How true.
Answers removed, closed threads, deleted threads.
Before long there will only be mods and their sychophants left on this site.
Question Author
jackthehat, //Islamic law requires two women witnesses to every one male witness, why accusations of rape by women require four male witnesses to support those accusations, and why women seeking divorce encounter far more obstacles than men.//

It is not an inconvenient truth - it's rude. That requires research. Now will you please stop disrupting this thread. It isn't helpful.
That's not research......that has been posted on here on numerous occasions.

If this trend for closing threads continues or snowballs, valuable contributors will leave the site.

Many people post on here, but not all of them make valuable contributions.
Surely you must have realised by now, Naomi, that certain persons on here are the equivalent of Elliot Ness and his forces, 'The Untouchables'.
I'm inclined to think that the ability for a Mod to close a thread is causing far more trouble than its worth.

Either a thread as a whole should be deleted (if it's descended into pointless name calling and abuse from entrenched positions) or just individual offending posts should be zapped.

I might propose that perhaps a Mod could *temporarily* close a thread whilst he/she removes a bunch of contentious material, but it should then promptly be re-opened?
Question Author
jackthehat, It's been researched - and re-checked before posting.
Question Author
sunny-dave, one of those threads was re-opened - and rightly so - until it was closed again. It remains closed.
Lol.....
Reading and retaining 'something' years ago and then repeating it ad infinitum on an internet forum does not actually constitute research...

Good grief,
this site is becoming less and less user-friendly on a daily basis.
Question Author
jackthehat, you have no idea what has or has not been researched. Please stop disrupting this thread.
