I can’t even respond to the last poster there to ask her to mind her manners. Since there’s no message from the Editorial staff I assume that this has been done on the whim of a mod. Please sort it out, Ed. When discussions are halted in full flow for no apparent reason it becomes a waste of time contributing at all. The Islam thread went the same way … twice!

As far as I'm aware, this post breaks no rules.... but this fairly recent practice really is becoming very frustrating to the more serious posters here, especially if they've taken the time and trouble to research complex issues.

Thanks for your attention.

Don't waste your breath, Naomi. You know full well the score re closed threads.
I totally agree that when a thread is closed there should be an automatic notice saying so.

Please don't get this thread removed. It's an important issue that for the well-being of the site should be addressed.
JD, the moderation on this site is becoming a joke. I'm not surprised people are complaining.
I agree 100% with you naomi, but you probably won't get anywhere ...

Mamyalynne, //I totally agree that when a thread is closed there should be an automatic notice saying so.//

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that unless there's a very good reason to close threads, they shouldn't be closed. Neither of the above examples warranted closing.
Having read the thread, to my mind the correct course of action would have been to remove the last insulting post and leave the rest of the thread intact. but then again, I'm not a Mod or an Ed.
No, but it is my view - I hope you get a response to your comments.
Yes JD I agree and it was also totally unfair that naomi didn't get a chance to reply to such an unwarranted insult ...
///...especially if they've taken the time and trouble to research complex issues. ///

LoL....as if....
What a charming 'lady' you are, JTH!
I may be wrong but were threads closed this often before Mods were given that option?

I agree....this thread closing is a farce and making the site...or at least answering on some threads very uninviting.....

I have always said...Ed's site....Ed's rules.....but not as regards this.....it's a mess that needs changing...x
Maybe the Ed wears a hijab.
Feel free to ignore me, Jackdaw....

Mamyalynne, It’s your view but it isn’t what I said, so you weren’t actually agreeing with me as you said you were.

jackthehat, no need for rudeness. Some people here to do go to a lot of time and effort to research their answers.
That is an invitation which I gratefully accept.
Question Author
Theland, stop. That isn't helpful either.
Not recently they haven't, naomi.....and especially not on the threads you mention.
It's the same regurgitated rhetoric time after time after time.
Give somebody a bit of power, and don't be surprised when they use it simply because they can. Litter wardens, police, the European Union, and of course, the AB mods.
