It is a powerful piece of work, and yes, John Thaw was amazing in it.

I still cry like a girl in The Railway Children when Jenny Agutter says 'Daddy ... my Daddy!!"
I loved it, and cried like you!
Brilliant.Loved it so much I have it on DVD.
Dee Sa....where can I see Good Night Mr Tom ?

I have been watching Kavanagh QC on my NOW TV thingy and have hugely enjoyed them. Thaw was a much better actor than any gave him credit for, in my humble opinion.

Mikkey it was on today on ITV3at 11am, then on ITV3+1, I only found it by flicking through the channels ! maybe it is available ITV player. Well worth a watch, it keeps cropping up every now & then.
I loved it too Dee. The part that made me cry the most was when 'Mr Tom' found William and the dead baby locked and bound in that cupboard under the stairs. Heartbreaking. We lost a fabulous actor when John Thaw died.
Yes, its one of my favourite films.
i loved it - really did
One of my favourites and not a nude scene or swearing in sight. Bliss.
Just love Good Night Mr Tom. Have watched it twice and may again!
It is the film by which I shall always remember John Thaw. By far the best he ever made. This and 'The Railway Children' (proper version, steam clearing and 'Daddy! My Daddy!') unfailingly make me cry. Got wet eyes now!
Hubby and I have watched it many times, so powerful.
Hope we can watch it many more.
^^^^ Posted this before I read all the other comments!
I can also watch this over and over again, and also with tears in my eyes at the end. Brilliant.
