The number I was kindly given in my previous thread was an 0800 number, so I dalled on my my BT phone However it was someone in the USA and they said I might be charged foe the call. End of call. I found another number 0208 6053000 and the robot said it was 20p per minute from a mobile. I get my calls free with my mobile so would I have to pay for the call? Getting nowhere today!

I'm fairly sure that if you've dialled an 0800 number from your landline, it would be free - irrespective of the fact that you've been re-directed to the USA; so I think the info given to you, from the person you spoke to, was incorrect.
When you refer to "the robot", what are you referring to, as the code 0208 is the area code for London and I'm sure that these are free from a mobile.

Didn't misdial did you ? Sounds a very generous call receiver who would foot your bill for an international call, unless, maybe, they were using VoIP over the Net somehow.

They answered my email and gave me a link to a page where someone gave me a callback, so all sorted. Thanks all x
