I bought 20 bulbs from Amazon or Ebay - I gave sista 10 bulbs - I'm sitting here in the computer room and the bulb blew about 8 o'clock. Never gave it a thought so I told myself I would replace it tomorrow.

Sista is just after phoning me and said that one of the bulbs also blew up in her kitchen as in lamp. But the bulb blew all the electric appliances.

Fortunately her neighbour came down and flicked on the trip switch.

I never said to her about my bulb also blowing. I told her to throw them all out.

How can bulbs be faulty. She wanted me to send them back but too much hassle.

I've been lucky in that my electric didn't go off - it was some bang.

Would you think they are dangerous too.

But my bulb is only in about a couple of days.

Denton - don't understand your post - why blow out for safety reasons.
When I buy bulbs I usually buy 4 at a time , bet your life one usually blows !
Jennyjoan, does Denton mean it blows the fuse box and you have to flick that back on .
We've had several that have failed after only a few hours as well, and they often trip the switch too x
I think there has to be something wrong with the bulbs if two from the same lot malfunction after being used for a short period of time in two different households.
Sounds like they are 110 volt as opposed to 240 volt.
What bodeker says!!

I know what a trip switch is but I don't have one. I have just a big box containing 30amp, 15amp and 5 amp.

As things blow - I replace the fuses/amps. Wish I did have a trip switch.
Jennyjoan, ahh well there you go , we all assumed you had a trip switch :)
Best not to buy this sort if thing from Amazon/ebay, you dont know where they've come from or if they have passed the safety standards.

// As things blow - I replace the fuses/amps. Wish I did have a trip switch.//

sounds as tho you need a new doo-dah - let accommondation the electrics have to be higher standard than yours (!)

costs around £200 to have a modern electric box replaced
( but I did place a job lot - ten)

Yes Peter - may get down to get a new board with the Trip Switch.

Although I did think like I would have to get the whole re-wired again. Have a great electrician - may give him a ring.
