As far as I know, you can pay over the odds to have them rushed through in a matter of hours.


Potentially a few weeks if you make you application now, as the passport office gets busier in the lead up to holidays like Easter and the summer.

The passport office say a routine application takes 3 weeks, though a lot of the time it's quicker.

If you can get to a passport office in person, and have proof of travel within the next 2 days. You can get a passport processed the same day as lodging the application. However it does mean hanging around the passport for the best part of the day. The passport office website can be found at: http://www.passport.gov.uk/index.asp

Our passports took just ONE WEEK to arrive by a Courier. I was amazed at such service.
