We've just booked a holiday for december and all 3 of us need new passports as our appearance has changed (my son is now 21 and not 11), so when we send for our new passports with new pictures do we need to send new forms and old passports, or just new pictures and and old passports.?

Do it online, you will need renewal forms, its very easy and will tell you exactly what you need to send https://www.gov.uk/renew-adult-passport

Webbo...do it yourself. The post office service is not great. All the instructions are on the form and it's even simpler for renewals.
Even if you fill it in online I think you still have to print it and post it.
So basically, all you can do on-line is download the forms. You can't actually renew on line. I thought that sounded odd.
naomi / webbo, there is an ongoing trial to use online photo's. I do not know how it works and it is restricted to the few chosen trial areas of the UK.
The best place to get Passport photo's is Tesco photoshop. They take a photo and scan it direct to the Passport office website. They then get an instant Yes/No answer as to if it is acceptable or not. They will repeat the photo free of charge until they get a 'Yes' from the passport office.
You still have to get the photo & ID signed and sent off by post though.

Eddie, We've established that.
