I have promised home made lasagne tomorrow night. I make my own pasta so I know that will be fresh and I've got some nice minced steak. Normally I've done it with layers of bolognaise, pasta and cheesy bechamel sauce, however I wanted something a bit special. There are THOUSANDS of recipes on the net though!

Can anyone recommend a tried and tested recipe, please?

Oh me gosh. Home made pasta. I cheat with that tho,

I've tried a few herbs through the mince, and a stonger cheese (can't remember what type tho, it was ages ago and my lot just wanted plain lasagne)

I've also done a lasagne without a cheesy bechamel, (plain bechamel) and grated parmesan over it
If you deviate too much it won`t be classic lasagne. I confess I make lasagne with turkey mince but I put sliced mushrooms in when I cook the mince.
Instead of bechamel, I mix equal parts of 1)creme fraiche natural, 2)herbal and 3)sour cream. Some garlic in the mince and (in the last ten minutes) grated pizza cheese on top.
Mr.T's recipe - he does it better ;-)
I do the same Barmaid, and as an Italian I can tell you DO NOT CHANGE IT!!! lol It's special enough lol
I use plain bechamel and add layers of mozzarella and parmesan too.
Make an Italian-American Lasagne....no Bechamel sauce, but loads of cheese.
This is very like the lasagne I grew up with and made myself ...
