This Californian beaut is pure nectar, full of honey with a distinct, lingering hit of clove. I've been a fan of this enigmatic grape for some time and this wine certainly didn't fail to deliver. Unfortunately, despite my best shopping efforts, I was unable to find any goats' cheese anywhere to accompany my delish vino. (Was it National Goats' Cheese Day yesterday? Everyone had sold out!) I will indulge in another bottle this coming Friday - so roll on the weekend! lol
Have you discovered a wine or food that has floated your boat recently?
NoM... excellent idea Napa Valley and the one next to it .the Alexander Valley..... particularly the red wines "Silver Oak." as good if not better than the Premier Grand Crus.
To prove my wine credentials, I find a bottle of Baron St. John usually does the trick. Although variable, and not as cheap as it used to be, it's not bad for the price.
Just bought Namaqua Elephant River ( South African ) Chenin Blanc/Chardonnay @ 13% for £4.99 half price in Morrisons. Nice Wine. Easy to gargle with !! ;-))
A very nice one here, recommended to me by an owner of a local vino-shop but it is very good.....a La Multa, 08, Garnacha grape from Calatayud in Spain......£6-95
Plenty of depth, rich and fruity blackberry/raspberry, hints of spice
