shame about Viv & Terry isn't it?
Wonder if they had life insurance?
lol
bennhoughton. As an insurance 'expert' no doubt you, more than anyone, must be aware of the importance of the small print. Good advice is always to familiarise oneself with the rules and terms before entering into anything. One can understand that you probably overlooked that small task before plunging into Answerbank with your insurance adrenaline pumping. Divulging personal information on a forum is never a brilliant move - particularly your real name. Quote: 'Do not post any personal information belonging to you or others including full name . ..'

See Site Rules and Terms of Use at foot of page. Welcome to Answerbank, Benn.
come on now people, isnt this rounding on newbies the complaint a lot of people make about answerbank? Im pretty sure when chuck joined he did not get this even though he basically did the same thing (joined and answered tech/comp questions)
Evening Benn. Welcome:-) ...
blimey lol....sir.prize, i wasnt particularly endeared to read the small print until after i had signed up - i wasnt particularly expecting to face such questioning just by using my real name and answering questions i know the answers to....i thought that was the idea, but apparently you have to answer things you dont know about otherwise its advertising

i was obviously very naive ...again my mistake
but thank you for the welcome sir.prize, and you too ljdksa, good evening to you both
Talking of insurance,Benn(,I'll direct my question to someone who might know the answer)-are all school trips abroad normally covered by travel insurance including cancellation and baggage etc,or should I take out extra insurance for my daughter who is going on one soon?
Hi Ganesh

I presume the travel insurance policy you have is an annual family travel and your daughter is under the age of 18?

If she is travelling with just the school, ie not travelling with either of her parents, it is probable that her trip would not be covered by that annual travel policy. You are best to phone them to double check this, if they provide good cover they may already cover it, or will be able to cover the trip on an advised basis. If they cant you may just need to take out a single trip policy for your daughter for that one trip, it wont be much, possibly £10 online.

Hope that helps
I have no cover for her and I have always assumed that the school insurance covers school trips-well,college actually and she is over 18,as are all of them.Am I therefore wrong in assuming this?
i dont actually know the answer to that i am afraid. Although i would envisage that each college and school have policies - it could be possible that the schools insurance policy would cover school trips, but i would guess that it would mostly extend to cover any liability the school may face whilst in charge of the pupils, rather than providing cover for the pupils luggage and cancellation etc.

I would ask the school if travel insurance is included, and if not it may be best for her to take out a single trip policy, they are available even for small trips like weekend breaks etc in the UK and are very cheap.
