My Dad is 65. He had 3 heart attacks whilst on holiday in Kenya 16 years ago. He has had holiday insurance cover since then through American Express and travelled around the world without incident and indeed has had no recurrance of ANY heart problems since then.

Recently his GP changed the 'brand' of medication my Dad takes as one of the pills caused him to have very cold fingers. This different brand alieviated this problem. About this time his holiday insurance came up for renewal. He informed AE of the change in medication and they declined to continue insuring him. He has tried a couple of other companies since but is either declined or the premium is pretty hefty.

Can anyone suggest any firms that may be more amenable to insuring him ? Or any other remedy ?

Try Staysure.co.uk They specialise in insurance for the over 65s. Heart attacks are one of the biggest problems that airlines have with their passengers and if forced to divert the insurer has to pick up the bill! Most airlines will not take you on board if they suspect you to be ill. Depending on where he is going why not fly in short hops or take a ferry/boat. My father also had three heart attacks in his fifties and was on medication thereafter. It doesn't mean that he has no problem if he still takes tablets! Go to Kenya via Saudi Arabia etc. and rest in between.

Thanks for that.
I was meaning that apart from the medication he takes there have been no problems........he hasn't been to see a Doctor in years.......and is fit and sound in most areas.

He specifically wants to return to mainland USA, Hawaii, etc.

I'll certainly suggest Staysure to him.

Regards,
