One hundred thousand Americans have marched and protested in Washington against the war in Iraq. Yet no one seems to protest about the war in Afghanistan.

The British people are so apathetic, they couldn't care less either way, as long as they get their daily dose of reality TV, and Football.

And our Prime Minister is more interested in the deaths caused by the war in Darfur than the deaths caused by the wars Iraq & Afghanistan, where his very own troops are risking their lives.

well, that's the big question, tigerlily. No, Saddam wasn't behind al-Qaeda or 9/11. But he did have oil. Even the previous head of the Federal Reserve (the US equivalent of the Bank of England) has just admitted that oil was the reason. The US should have stayed away from Iraq, and concentrated on sorting Afghanistan out; I believe they could have done it.

Not only did the Americans not help against the IRA, it was to a large extent American money that funded the IRA - sentimental Irish-Americans donating to a cause from the old country. It wasn't till after 9/11 that Washington finally noticed that the IRA were a terror organisation too and cracked down on it. Result: a peace deal.
We Have Plenty To Thank The Americans For, Without Their Help, ie MONEY We Would Be Under The Rule Of Germany. How Would That Grab U. Tigerlilly 11 ! Secondly , For Every Great British Invention Whether It Be Goods , Science Or Medicine, The Financial Backing Comes From The Good Old U S of A. Check It Out !!!
May be but that stil doesn't change what JNO has said. Some of the US citizens supplied the IRA with money to cause the deaths of many british and Irish people. I won't forget the nights my sister lay awake crying for her husband who was serving there. My husband had 8 of his commrades killed there and nearly lost his own life.
And as for American backing, more like American grabbing. They have made to point of trawling our universities for years taking the best of our graduates.
Judging from a tv show I saw some time ago the US would have been happy to sit back and keep lending money and see how it panned out with the Germans if Japan had not jumped in.
They would have waited until all our boys were gone before stepping in.
The very fact that Hitler had commited so much to the eastern front also contributed heavily to our victory so please don't feed me the what the US has done for us line. They only ever do anything for their own gain.
look at all the Nazi scientist they took and shielded from prosecution just to gain their knowledge.
