One hundred thousand Americans have marched and protested in Washington against the war in Iraq. Yet no one seems to protest about the war in Afghanistan.

The British people are so apathetic, they couldn't care less either way, as long as they get their daily dose of reality TV, and Football.

And our Prime Minister is more interested in the deaths caused by the war in Darfur than the deaths caused by the wars Iraq & Afghanistan, where his very own troops are risking their lives.

hi anotheoldgit: i live in the US and have to say that i have seen these protests first hand. i was in the army and even though i've been out since 2002 i have my brothers and sisters fighting these wars. i agree that the war in iraq is bulls**t but i agree w the war in afghanistan. sorry... ibelieve after 9/11 that afgh. was directly tied to it, but iraq is a completely diff. story. not that our protests have made a difference though w our pres. who's completely gung-ho on invading everyone. and i sympathize you you about your soldiers who unfortunately got dragged into iraq also...you're country has paid a hefty price also.

Hi there kyra16

I think both our peoples have been sold a pup by our politicians. I don't think 9/11 had anything to do with Afghanistan (Pakistan, yes that is where the terrorist training camps are). And in our case there were no weapons of mass destruction, as Blair would have us believe.

I too have 2 Grandson's out there in Afghanistan, so I too have a vested interest.
and if you ask your grandsons if they think they are doing the right thing by fighting in afghanistan what do you think their answer would be aog?
-- answer removed --
right on stoke
aog: i disagree: there are training camps in afghanistan, and my friends over there have said that (unlike iraq) they are helping the people; slowly but surely.
The British people are so apathetic because they are finally beginning to realise that they are "governed" by career politicians who continuously lie to them, and are only interested in keeping their snouts in the political trough.

When they (the people) come to realise that there is no real alternative as even the opposition parties' politicians are of the same ilk, then they will become even more apathetic. Roll on the Revolution!
there are training camps in Pakistan, but the former Afghan regime, the Taliban, were definitely the ones sponsoring Bin Laden and al-Qaeda at the time of 9/11, and there was good reason to invade there.
your silence is quite deafening antheoldgit........................
Hello Kyra! Think I've paid for last night's rant!!!
hi briar!!!!!!! why what happened?
Whole pile of stuff devoted to how ignorant, rude, unpleasant, etc., etc., I am. Seem to've found a few allies, but felt compelled to extend my apologies further. However - since then (a few hour's ago now) - some posts to equal things've turned up! I've behaved myself, and tried not to get involved!!! Rather boring though.
briar; dont' let em bug you. its much more fun to talk w someone like you. you're spirited; like you said i've been browsing; nothing "good" goin on. join in!
They don't bug me sweetie - but I'm amazed by the lack of humour, and the amount of cloth-brains, sometimes! Oh - I'm also on the tongue-piercing thingy!
Go to Most Racist AB.....nothing to do with racism - but old parsnip-nose is having a go already!!!!

Hold on stokemaveric give me time, I don't sit at my computer 24/7 just waiting to respond to your pointless contributions.

But to answer your remark, my Grandsons are professionals, given a job by the politicians, and they will carry it out to completion, even with one hand tied behind their backs.

Only mike1222 and jno have given answers anywhere near to my question, although someone has yet to address Brown's concerns over Darfur,. We have enough on with Iraq and Afghanistan, let the African nations sort out the Sudan.
Question Author
Oh nearly forgot I don't know what kyra16 is on but I could make no sense of the last 2 posts. Who is briar?
Darfur is actually connected with Iraq and Afghanistan in a way: it involves an Islamic government supposedly encouraging genocide against black, pagan Africans. Hence the concern among western governments that it is a branch of Islamist extremism.
Question Author
Thanks for that jno, but like I said let the African Nations short that out, because the African's don't seem to take too kindly to interference from Whites. That is one reason for us not sorting out that mad-man Mugabe in Zimbabwe.
It shows the intention of fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan by the US is not what we have been told. Who is the surge aimed at. The Sunnis, the Shias or Al Qaeda? No, the purpose, as mentioned by others, are the oil reserves in Iraq and preventing Iran from controlling them.
The real villian of the peace is Bin Laden. Why have no surges taken place to root him out?
I'm no brain box but if the problem was Bin Laden and his crew then why were we ever in Iraq.
Yes saddam was a tyrant but he wasn't the one who did 9/11 or am I missing some thing else.
Why did they catch Saddam so quickly yet can't seem to lay their hands on BinLaden?
Why is the UK involved at all? This was not a strike against the UK but the US. Isn't it down to them?
No offence to the US but why are we fighing their battle?
They never helped us fight the IRA.
Sorry if these question seem daft but I see so many people giving reasons on tv I just thought I would like to hear joe publics view on these matters.
