Did you know that the name mayonnaise is meant to have its origins in Mahon, captial of Menorca, where a French chef started making the sauce while France was occupying the island in the mid 18th century.

Pasta - and Jack Russells are the Devil's Spawn (along with Chihuahuas and tiny Yorkies).

😁

I add carrot, onion and shredded cabbage to my mayo to make coleslaw and eat it by the spoonful.

Nothing beats it.

^^^ Coleslaw?

No! No! No!

add a little garlic salt or paste the mayo...thne dip a few chips num num..

Seriously Hoppy?

It's ok on a salad.

But hot chips deserve salt, a tad of vinegar and gravy for dunking.

You philistine,,,

I don't mind Mayonnaise but I've never bought any. Much prefer salad cream. It's got more "Bite"! 😊

Maydup, I too make my own coleslaw and eat it by the bowlful. Have you tried this..mix one cup Mayo, two tablespoons sweetener (sugar if you prefer) and three tablespoons cider vinegar? Tweak the amounts depending on how much cabbage etc you use.
I love both mayo and salad cream, couldn't choose between the two. I agree about dipping chips in mayo, scrumptious 😋

No. Nasty stuff, whether from a jar or home made

We've slowly migrated to mayonnaise on chips over the years. Yesterday we came across Heinz chip sauce (looks like mayonnaise, but isn't) so we thought we'd give it a try. We like it.

Incidentally, yeast is called barm in parts of Lancasire, hence barm cakes.

Love coronation mayonnaise on anything even on a slice of bread.

To me, mayonnaise and salad cream are the same thing. Both hideous, sorry.

Barmcakes? Muffins? Breadcakes? Flatcakes? Whatever you call them, the best ones are sold by Applebys' in Middleton, North Manchester. These are the REAL deal and are better known as Lancashire Oven Bottoms. Very, very yummy with butter on! 😋

I didn't know that Prudie, every day is a school day

10Clarion, I don't like oven bottoms, they're too dry.

I always have a pack of Sheldon's oven bottom muffins in the freezer, we prefer them to other bread things to have our veggie burgers in.

I've tried Sheldons. They're rubbish, too bitty and crumbly. Applebys for me!

Yes. It is a tasty sauce.

I love mayonnaise.

Aioli garlic mayonnaise is good - first tasted it in Spain.
