Hi Ed

is this post by a moderator on my thread consistent with the rules on how moderators should use their status?

"PP, you have been asked countless times over several years to leave me out of your drivel. I told you the other day that if you persist I will remove your posts. Take note - and if your posts disappear you'll know why. I won't say it again."

https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question1845294-2.html

my understanding was that moderators were advised not to moderate threads they were involved in and only in accordance with site rules

Naomi wasn't involved in the thread. She was dragged in to use as validation for another nonsense pose. He does it to others too despite being asked, then told not to. But you knew that didn't you. Another attempt at causing dissent.
I'm not a mod (any more), but in Naomi's defence, at some point this does stray into harassment, ie Rule 1; there's no obvious need for her to be mentioned apropos of nothing in such comments, especially not after repeated requests to leave her out of it.

Also, I would have assumed Naomi had checked with the Eds already as to whether she could say something directly or not about this. Perhaps not; regardless, the question of whether it's abuse or not is ultimately one for Ab Editor to decide.

No such advice has ever been given to me. There are times when there is only one mod here, so to say they may not intervene in anything untoward if they are involved in a thread would be absolutely nonsense and detrimental to the site.

Incidentally, that post to PP is in accordance with Site Rules. See Rule number 1 - 'Treat others as you would like to be treated...'

If you have any more questions I can help with, please let me know.
Many thanks Togo and ClareTG0ld.

i think we might need to be a bit clearer on harassment then... because it surely can't just be writing something that another poster has asked that you not write?
Oh, the power!! Certainly goes to some folk's heads.
hullo
thanks for the support boys and girls
Hamming codes has gone I think
another this morning - all power to your elbow in three languages ( kullu gawa limir - f - kack) - elbow I didnt know in arabic

Now the fact remains - hem hem that Naomi ridiculed the ldea of NT Greek ( he just googles fast) and ridiculed my references to Latin and then just said "no" when I er claimed to connected to "Elegiacs of Gallus Qasr Ibrim" JRS 1979. Earliest Latin poem written on papyrus by 200 ( yes two hundred) years. 30BC

and now a mod is using the ref to Latin to zap posts like - "Hamming codes reduces errors de minimis" which is er not about her and not about Latin but about Hamming codes

I thought the hanging posts that explain points in posts now deleted ( I did have an idea they wd be considering their light dusting with Latin) just showed.... my artistic flair in construction.

The deletion must revolve on a post being understood

has anyone noticed how my posts are not understood except when they are ? ( and then deleted). I cheerfully put up with these paradoxes EVERY DAY ! - without a murmur, tweet or sound - ( Cassandra " sound of a little bird caught in a bush(net) (*)

so I can plead - mea culpa. mea maxima culpa - oops this post isnt gonna last

and would plead for a second mod ( moderating mod) to check deletions some of which I can only put down to spite.

(*) CASSANDRA. The mourning-bird, sweetly singing her own dreadful doom! antistrophe 6.

I mean it boils down to - some posters dont mind being sworn at , and others do

Christ I worry about my sanity reading that PP
Abuse of power in this case .......no doubt about it.
PP, //now a mod is using the ref to Latin to zap posts //

I've no idea which mod is doing that.
//because it surely can't just be writing something that another poster has asked that you not write?// sic.

You insist on not understanding when it suit you, although being convinced that you know it all the rest of the time. See below.

"She was dragged in to use as validation for another nonsense pose."
I am naming no mods
the guilty shall go free!

I love the crutchy threads and a mod comes along and for very good reasons known only to themselves, and never discussed - see above- knocks the crutch away, in the best parsible taste

I like the mod overseeing a mods deletion and basically saying
" yes. no. oo exactly. good one. no not that......" as a solution
surely expressed as
quis custodiet ipsos custodes
yes yes I know this is going down the pan

PP, //a mod comes along and for very good reasons known only to themselves, and never discussed //

You've been given the reason. Read the quote in the OP.
I would hope the Ed would address this thread .
Me too, anneasquith.
In the meantime, perhaps best that you a̶b̶use your mod privileges and close this thread.
Heaven forbid I should do that, ClareTG0ld - but someone else might. :o)
Peter Pedant in answer to "quis custodiet ipsos custodes" it is the Spare Editor but I am sure you are aware of that fact.

The Spare Ed last logged in on the 25th July and in light of that fact and not wanting this to drag on over the weekend, I am closing this thread.
The rules for the moderators are general. Not every moderator is known or has these types of encounters like Naomi24. I do not feel that Naomi24 is abusing her power, as she's advising a member of the issue before she takes action.
