red plover?
Redstart ?
Redbreast?
Just to confuse things,,
i thought of red plover, as its red for blood pl over if that makes sense.
first one is hard. i can only think of
magpie, macaw, none of which seem to fit
dipper, at a pinch.
1 iffy.... bluebird (laundry blue)
mallyh, round here it was called Dolly Blue. do you think it's a trick question, dolly bird? bit strange if so.

The tub in which washing was done was called a dolly - hence dolly-blue. The stick used to push the washing up and down was a posser - I was argueing you were dipping the washing, hence my suggestion of dipper.
I understand bhg481. I remember them.
