Something strikes me as very strange about the recent increase in the number of cases. We are told that transmission is dependent on 'very close physical contact', but the WHO said this week that 99% of all cases outside Africa were in men, and that, of those, 98% involved men who have sex with men.

Why should this sort of sex be any more dangerous re this disease than that between a man and a woman - which is also 'very close physical contact'. Feels like there's something we're not being told.

The cases in most countries were brought back from an international gay festival. Having infected that demographic it is more likely to be found in that demographic.
I'd guess for most efficient transmission one would have to pass infected stuff, so male homosexual practices may result in more scabs/blisters being burst with unfortunate consequences ?
What do you expect from a mandrill?
