RIP, legend, he actually called an infringement on himself that cost him the F1 world title, gentleman.
RIP... even I have heard of him xx
TTT, not quite, it was Mike Hawthorn who had been threatened with a penalty after reversing on a track.

Moss defended Hawthofn's actions in front of the Stewards and Moss later lost the Championship to him by one point.

RIP, Sir.

For those of us who were boys in the 50s, he was someone you pretended to be.
I once stopped James Hunt driving an XJS too fast on Kew Road in Richmond, I said to him 'Who do you think you are, Stirling Moss?'
He smiled.
RIP Mr Moss.
RIP Stirling.
RIP Stirling, saw him race at Brands Hatch with Fangio in old Formula fords and Coopers.
yes, TCL I knew it was something like that, if he'd kept schtum Hawthorne would have got the penalty and he'd have won the title.
They used to be sportsmen in those days; lent each other spares etc. Now it's just another money-making business.
Condolences to his family.
Sad news, RIP Stirling.
bhg, I suppose you’ve heard about Mercedes making ventilators? There's still a heart and a conscience in F1.
A hero of my boyhood - he seemed to embody all that was good in sport.

Also, by all accounts, a genuinely good man - never read a bad word about him.

RIP Stirling

PS : a generous and interesting obit in The Graun - a lengthy read, but well worth it

Zacs, yes I have but I'm not sure that's the same thing as lending your rivals equipment which might enable them to beat you.
In just the same way as not many people know that Hedy Lamarr, more or less, invented wi-fi, a thing that not many people know about Sir Stirling is that he was a total technology advocate and early adopter.

Specifically, his house in Mayfair was "smart" 50 years ahead of its time: https://nickrileyarchitect.com/2013/01/13/the-high-tech-house-of-sir-stirling-moss/
RIP Stirling.
A motoring legend.
Incidentally, following Zac's comment about Mercedes ventilators, does anybody know if they are being given or sold to the NHS. I can only find references to "supplied". Back in the day Lord Nuffield had his Morris factories making iron lungs for polio victims and giving them to the NHS.
Yes a legend indeed Fibonacci - RIP and condolences to his family.
