Hi guys.. Anybody out there ever suffered from an underactive thyroid... Like to know what their symptoms were and any subsequent med/treatment they had and how they are today.. Thanks
Yes, I have an underactive thyroid. The symptoms are many and varied, feeling cold, putting on/ inability to lose weight, having trouble remembering things or being slow, dry skin, brittle hair, muscle and joint aches to name but a few. You can suffer from a lot of theseor a few. A trip to the doctor who will do a blood test to co firm. I have annual blood tests to keep an eye on levels. I take Levothyroxine at bedtime. Thyroid problems can run in families with women affected more than men.
Me too, and only very recently diagnosed. I am week 1 into taking Levothyroxine at bedtime and feeling better already.
It took me a while to seek help as most of the symptoms felt like either simple aging or laziness! I was aching, had low mood, felt muddled, no energy or enthusiasm, felt cold and had dry hair.
Get the blood test as its a simple yes or no. Today I have more energy than I have had for ages. The weather helps of course!
I’ve had an under active thyroid for many years. I’m always the one who feels cold, even today I had a thick jumper on. Also the tiredness and difficulty to lose weight but no difficulty putting it on! Not had tight throat or jaw ache though. I take 75 one day and 100 the next but take mine first thing in the morning. Easily managed and no side effects.
Underactive thyroid was diagnosed some 20+ years ago and I remember GP saying this was something which can be difficult to diagnose. Symptoms were weight gain, tiredness, breathlessness, thinning hair, but, unusually, I did not feel the cold. Currently on 75mg Levothyroxine with yearly blood tests and am fine.
