Can you still have trouble keeping weight off if you are on medication for underactive thyroid and its being kept stable?

Me personally, No. I suppose a bit like getting older your body is more likely to keep weight on and I adjust my diet to suit. My thyroxine dose is steady and as long as I stick to a healthy diet I don't gain weight.
Yes, you certainly can.

Don'y think that when an underactive thyroid is diagnosed and replacement medication is implicated you will automatically lose weight.

Sorry to tell you this but it can make no difference at all ...it hasnt with me.. I have now had an underactive thyroid for years now.. However my friend in USA has lost a lot of weight with the different tablet she has been given by her doctor.. My doctor said they have different ones to ours and we cannot get it here... One thing I was told to do was to take the tablet an hour before anything to eat or drink...that is supposed to help. But I still cannot take me tablet then as I take it with my early morning cup of tea my husband brings me.!
