When daughter started uni last Sept, she had to register with a doc near to where she would be living. Now she's home til at least September, she has no access to a GP. Can she register back with the old surgery on a temporary basis, do you think?

As far as I’m aware, anyone can visit any GP as a ‘visitor’ (Ive done it myself when away from home)so maybe that’s how your daughter can access a GP now, if she needs to.

She doesn't need to re-register. Anyone can use a GP practice wherever they are in the UK in an emergency as a temporary patient. Mind you, nobody is getting near an actual GP at the moment - all "consultations" being done by phone.

There should be no need to register. Anyone who is classed as a visitor to the area they're staying in is entitled to use the services of any local NHS surgery in that area. Your daughter can remain registered with the practice in her university city and use your local practice as a visitor to your area.

Thanks all. She'll need a repeat prescription in May, and she was a bit worried about how she was going to get it. I'll ring the surgery.

Can’t she get a repeat prescription sent from her uni doctor to a local chemist?

She just needs to contact her uni surgery and ask them to transfer the repeat pescription to your local pharmacy. It will remain at that pharmacy until she transfers it back, she just rings the uni surgery again each time she needs a repeat. I did this for a relative who was stranded away from home and it worked perfectly.
