why have you got a solicitor?
It's better to ask your friend's solicitor (your friend may have to ask for client confifentiality reasons)
If he is not due in court until the end of April it is too early to say if the court hearing will need to be adjourned. Let the solicitor know that there is a possibility that an adjournment may be needed. That is as much as you can do until there is more news from the hospital. The hearing can be adjourned right up to the moment the case is due in court. The court will just move on to the next case on the days list and give a new date.
You need to find out as soon as possible. Is this a criminal or civil matter?

Eddie, it's not as simple as simply giving a new date. If police officers are witnesses, the date will have been fixed around their rest days. it really depends what sort of matter this is, what part the ill friend is playing in it and how serious the trial and illness are.
Happy - Is the four charges of theft for which the person has been on bail for some time.
having a scan for a neuropathy is not time sensitive
going to court is

ask the hospital to rebook if they clash.
