I think chimley sounds quite nice. Is it something children say as it's easier than chimney and then the word stays with them).
I know a few people who say refuge when they mean refuse (as in refuse collectors)
is this a joke? Well, because the transition from M to N is hard for some people to get their tongues round. L to N can also be tricky, so if you're called Milne you may hear people pronounce it Millen.

I have a friend who pronounces everything quite normally except for empty, he always says empy.
A kid I went to School with pronounced it Chimbley
While in the throes of passion, my ex wife often got her 'K's and 'B's mixed up. "Oh, Ben, yes" she'd often murmur. Weird innit?
My sweep said my chimney was too blocked for him, so he flue away.
Chimbley was quite common in the NW when I was growing up, my late Dad was also say 'ashphalt' for asphalt and 'prestinct' for precinct, would never be told he was wrong.
jno, I don't believe anybody is having a go at people with speech impediments.
I once worked with a lady who would say she'd been to the hospital for an Xer'ay.
