When they leave the nest they are indistinguishable from the adult birds -same size and markings.

If you look up when walking under railway bridges or such like, you may just see a chick peeping over the edge of the nest.
Probably true of most birds -- the babies stay in the nest till they look like adults.
Good point! AAAAAND... why do they all walk like Norman Collier?

Baby pigeons (squabs) Do on occaisions fall out of the nest, before they'r ready and they'r the ugliest critters you could wish to meet!

seeing as they are a species thats preyed appon by predetors, they need to grow up fast to survive out there. the odd one that falls out of the nest may soon be sniffed out by a fox, cat or bird of prey, which is probably why their seldom seen

too true thunderbird+, i've seen squab.. and they are really ugly litle things.. but apprently very tasty!!
where I work we have alot of pigeons on the roof but also there are rats about at night and these eat the eggs and the chicks.
