Java Update

I am getting bombarded with Java updates on AB, especially crosswords, is the company Nanning weiwu Technology legitimate.....I suspect not and, if so, Ed, you have a problem

According to that most of the AV programmes (MSE, Comodo, Panda et al) seem to consider it unacceptable.

If you must have Java on your pc then this is the only place to get it.

Prudie has posted about this in Ed's Blog a few times, DTC, if you want to look at those threads. I think Ed was aware of the problem and managed to deal with it but clearly it's come back. I don't think it has anything to do with whether you have Java or not- it just looks like something nasty that you shouldn't click on

It keeps kicking me off and downloading a setup.exe file every time I try to view a thread using chrome. I'm using Firefox to post thins and it seems okay. Can you please try to do something as it's really disabling the site?

it kept kicking me off but i've been ok since i cleared my history, mse quarantined the bogus update so they do actually do something, which pleases me

when i check my firefox add ons to see whether there upto date and java needs updating (i dont use the auto update) as i check regular the add ons) i uninstall java first then go to the java web site ,(genuine one) and download a new copy

It's happening to me too when I'm on Google Chrome. I wonder has it been sorted yet.

I keep getting this too...Norton says it's unsafe...but every time I get the update message it switches off answerbank.

There's a suggestion to remove your history and so far so good, now three minutes since I have done that......

In your place I would run a 'Threat Scan' with malwarebytes free, if your getting possible malicious Java update from other places as well.
