A Cashless Society?

I wouldn’t mind at all when you think of all of the hands that’s been on notes and coins ,I tend to use Contactless much of the time now which shows on my phone and stops me going over the top ;)

Danny I never have cash in my purse now,I usually pay on my phone , the only time we pay cash is to the gardener , then we’d go to an ATM when he’s due

I can't remember the last time I handled cash. I know I've got £50 in my wallet but it has been there for probably two years or more.

Bring on the totally cashless society. Safer for shopworkers especially those who work alone, no more holdups of security vans. Easier to keep track of spending - I know exactly where every penny has gone.

Over the years I have either lost my wage packet twice or been pickpocketed. When cash is lost/stolen it is gone forever. Using a card gives protection that using cash can't.

I can think of no good reason to keep using cash

david, cash isn't king when you've bouhgt a big price item and the company goes bust before it is delivered. There are many times when it makes sense to pay with a credit card simply because of the legal protection it gives.

noop - british gas wrote me a letter demanding for the first time ( they said for the last) a bill for £193
and on the backside - they had added £15 handling charge - £218
I regard them as pimps conmen and thieves

There are many one-man businesses who wish to be paid in cash particularly those who visit homes to ply their trade.

I dont use contactless and I have developed IT Systems for some of the worlds biggest banks.

Why do you think that is now?

danny, my window cleaner is paid by direct bank transfer - most of his customers pay that way. I was talking to him last month and he said it was a good job he declared all his earnings as it meant he could survive lockdown on his furlough payments. He also said he was less worried about being mugged at the end of day's work, he was many years ago.
I wouldn't employ anyone who insisted on cash payments especially if they didn't give a proper receipt and invoice.

Tbh ymb, I think it’s becoming more widely used because of Covid ( yeah, that C word again) we used to go to the bar/ shops and pay in cash but now bar staff come to your table with their hand held gizmo for you to pay

There is 1.3m people in the UK that do not have bank accounts but they can still have a pre-paid card and use that to buy goods and pay for services. You don't need a bank account to be cashless

Uurrgghh I had to sully my hands with coins the other day and they totally stink after!
