I vaguely remember him playing in the 70s. Does anybody remember him being a great player?

Yes, I remember him, one of the leading professional footballers of the times.
Leicester could do no worse than winning the FA cup in his honour
c'mon you foxes

I used to watch him play every other week at filbert street

R.I.P. Frank
A good striker, but not a great one.
Played for England - 8 caps I believe and two goals.....probably God needs another striker to go alongside Peter Lorimer.....
Growing up, he was one of football's great entertainers, alongside folk like Rodney Marsh, Jimmy Johnson and later Glenn Hoddle.
Filbert Street...brings back memories.
As a 14 year old I cycled from Peterborough to Leicester to see Leicester City play the Arsenal side packed with stars.
My man of the match was a little inside forward called Jimmy Hennon.....anyone remember him?
how can anyone forget this:
note that when he gets the ball he's facing the wrong way and the ball does not touch the ground till it's in the net, magnificent.
Agreed. If Kane, Messi or Ronaldo had scored that goal in the current age, people would be going crazy over it.
Mozz is right, media frenzy these days at such a goal would be extreme. Surrounded by defenders, his skill in retaining possession then scoring is amazing.
I remember Frank - Shankly nearly signed him for Liverpool but I think he failed his medical because his blood pressure was raised - he’d bern partying too hard. Liverpool’s loss
I recall him playing for Bolton, my Aunt was his biggest fan! RIP
