hey everybardy ! ma daydy is famous !
ma dayd daddy that is !
My dear Papa was involved in digging a tunnel out of chokey ( POW camp silly!) and was paired with David Feilding. not a misspelling, and also an artist. He recorded that most miner POWs wore nothing but he wore shorts. At an IWM (Imperial War museum, pay attention !) around 1990, I was surprised to see a Fielding painting of a miner escapee, wiv white shorts. Ma daydy I was sure.
So at the desk I said to the skool leeva, that I could identify the miner in the escape painting and she ( obviously now on AB ) said "Foo everyone says dat!" and I asked
that the person in a painting is Paul Pedant now of ....
oo no, and laughed nervously. "Dey all say they know the sitters of war paintings and fings like dat !"
so I wrote to the curator and got an official poss off letter (dusty reply). I pointed out that I had given provenance of one of their paintings that previously they didnt know diddly squat about and she did admit that. - So I said OK can I use it ( jpg)?
and the curator said - "christ no - you crazy? copyright - poss off you can!" but in a curatory way.
and fiirty years later boys and girls

When my sister-in-law was about 16, she was a member of a theatre group, in Bradford, with actor George Layton. My sister-in-law didn't continue with a career in the theatre, but George Layton has done very well.
I never met George Layton, and I rarely see my sister-in-law, but I reckon that I have some faint, very faint, bragging rights about my distant theatrical connection!
