I Do Not believe in God. However, I could be proved wrong if there are ABers who can account for the reasons that 'God' subjects us mere mortals to Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Lightning, Volcanic eruptions, etc. Also tyrannical forces such as Isis and killer diseases such as Cancer.

Surely, if 'God' is all powerful, he/she is able to control matters in a more appropriate manner than appearing to be 'sitting back' and doing nothing.

We can never know whether god actually exists.
What we can know for certain though, is that if he does exist, he's not very nice.
Khandro - are you willing to answer my question - do you believe there are dire consequences for non-believers?

I wonder if Khandro will comment further.

Hans.
Maybe 'He' has a different perspective of pain and suffering and in the bigger picture of managing the whole universe, a few losses on our planetary speck may seem significant to us but to the God who is probably busy creating an improved version of us a few billion light years away I doubt it's a big deal. Considering He made us with the ability to reproduce, if He loses a few subjects today, by tomorrow He's got a load more so what's the problem? Maybe we're a bit arrogant to assume we are important enough for something so powerful to have a personal interest in us individually, as a species we're doing quite well. With regards to Him sitting back and doing nothing, maybe these matters are intentional, if He controls things like cancer and earthquakes as a purge He is probable pretty happy with his results.
andy; I believe, what you do, think or say, is a matter of supreme unimportance to God, but here on earth, you (to put it in simple terms) reap what you sow.
When the (Buddhist) judge, Christmas Humphreys sentenced a man, he said, "I want you to clearly understand, you are not being punished FOR what you have done, you are being punished BY what you have done."
Khandro - if that is your belief, then what price the entire (and immorally expensive) hierarcy of any church and staff worshipping God through the ages?

Do you mean that worship, and indeed prayer, is redundant, as is trying to live a Christian life?

If it is, quote " ...a matter of supreme unimportance to God ..." then what is the point of being a Christian, or believing in God at all?
Not sure I believe in God, but I believe in life after death.
andy; If you want to understand more about the meaningfulness of religion and spirituality in humanity, you might have to do more than fiddle about on the AnswerBank.
Khandro - I am intrigued that, given your endless willingness to lecture me about my ignorance and shortcomings in matters religious, you seem coy about sharing some of your pearls of wisdom on the subject, but refer to my genuine curiosity as to 'fiddle about on Answerbank'.

Fair enough, I shall take your unpleasant attitude as an unwillingness to engage in meaningful debate, or to even attempt to defend your belief system.

If, as you believe, your unwillingness to defend your God matters not an iota to him, then you are of course on safe ground, and he will not mind, or hold you to account for it.

I, who do not believe your God exists, will be able, should he be waiting for me to confirm that I did try to find out about him from one of his followers, but was spurned.

I am sure he will understand.

@andy-hughes.... It is my view that seriously thinking Non Believers are more worthy of entry into a supposed Kingdom of Heaven than those who blindly acknowledge a God which they have accepted without question.

I once heard an interesting story about a Russian Astronaut who upon his return to earth was asked by the then USSR leader if, when in space, he felt there was a power greater than mankind. The Astronaut replied YES and, for the sake of Russia, was immediately instructed to keep such thoughts to himself.

A few weeks later the Astronaut was believed to have met the Pope who asked a similar question as the Russian Leader. The Astronaut, remembering his allegiance to Russia, said. quite positively, No. Whereupon the Pope is alleged to have said, "that's also what I think, but let's keep that a secret between us".

Hans..
HansUrbancka - interesting story.

My recent interaction, or rather lack of it, with Khandro, merely underlines my major difficulty with Christianity - Christians.
To pick up on the 'ISIS' reference in the original post, one God actively wants them to do what they are doing, I heard a member of ISIS say so.

@ll_billym.....Report him as a Devil Worshiper.

Hans
andy-hughes, Khandro answered your question at 12:57. He isn't talking about Christianity or the church.
"To pick up on the 'ISIS' reference in the original post, one God actively wants them to do what they are doing, I heard a member of ISIS say so. "

This is quite a common theme amongst the mentally ill who attack or kill others claiming that God or the Devil told them to do it.
Naomi - I asked another question at 13:02, and I was rewarded with a trite rather pompous response for my trouble.

If you feel the need to get back to Khandro and ask him if he wants to elaborate, and then get back to me, by all means do so, but there's no rush, I am not at all interested in anything else he has to say on the subject.
andy-hughes, my answer addressed your question at 13:02 too. Khandro isn’t talking about the church or Christianity.
Naomi - I was in dialogue with Khandro, he has chosen to be rude to me and then withdraw.

In my opinion, my question to him remains unanswered, and likely to remain that way, so I shall move on.

Thank you for your input.
You're welcome.
