Recently read through another thread where it was said that homosexuality was a 'preference'.
Just when are religionist going to understand that someone's sexuality is NOT a preference, its who they are!
Both the Old Testament and the Koran proscribe death to homosexuals and in the New Testament St Paul says that homosexuals are worthy of death. If your own flesh and blood was a homosexual would you agree that they were worthy of death because some ancient literature says so?
And just WHY do hetero religious people seem to think that those with a different sexual orientation are any less than themselves

Because it is written.
I'm just glad Nailit that I have rarely met anyone who espouses those views.
Because they're sinners - allegedly.
well I am religious and cis gender hetero and i would never think less of a person for such a reason.
But I’m sure that not too far in the future (if they havent already) someone will say that god was LBGT.

Any and every fictional character will get a makeover at some point. Even the new Doctor Who, Jodie Whitteker has had fan art depicting her kissing or romantically embracing female companions.
My son is gay. A lovely, beautiful boy. I love him so much.
"WHY do hetero religious people seem to think that those with a different sexual orientation are any less than themselves " - because they are completely radio to believe all that old pony.
If there is just one God then it has no need to breed and so will be neither male nor female, won't have sexual feelings (as it is pointless) and therefore can't be LBGT.

Some of the most tolerant, understanding, lovely people that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing have been gay. The same people have had the most awful bigotry directed against them. (mainly from religious 'god fearing' folk).
It turns my stomach when I hear of 'gods love'....except when it comes to gay people...those we should stone to death!

Inn the absence of a link in Tora T'ree's post I cite

Talking snakes
Virgin birth
Waving the sea apart
Large yacht with private zoo
Marrying children
and the clincher
Bacon = bad.

Best not get all worked up about a load of old toss in a coupke of dodgy books from antiquity, nailit.
My pet hate is the phrase that 'God loves the sinner but not the sin' when some bigoted creep is criticising and generally demoralising or hurting someone :/
I just saw this while I was checking some crossword answers. I expect there are some stupid people who believe this. But they are best just ignored I think.
Be proud, either of yourself or your family, friend or whoever.

Wouldn't say that Im worked up as such Douglas, more like genuinely curious as to why such people even exist in this day and age?
My nephew is gay, my niece is gay, my sons wife’s brother is gay. So what. They are just as decent in fact more so than your average human. Their sexuality is irrelevant, their personality, and consideration for others shines through.

//My pet hate is the phrase that 'God loves the sinner but not the sin//

A roundabout way of saying that *I* hate the sin (and homosexuality)
;-)

Must admit that I would be interested in hearing Theland's view of this given that he is a bible believing Christian and tells us that his own son is homosexual.
Must be a hard thing to reconcile?
With his ability to ignore forgiveness and cheek turning on here I'm sure Lando will be perfectly able to reconcile his beliefs with reality.
You would think that by now people would simly accept people for who they are and I think that is generally true of most people but there are a minority of people who are unable to think for themselves but who also have a need to feel that they are better than others....perhaps they are actually suffering from major inferiority complexes.

I don't think that ur wrong there ^^ Doug...
He probably still loves the sinner and hates the sin.
