i was curious - in a national emergency - lets say... impending immentant nuclear attack, or an astroid coming down to earth - and the governments got an underground bunker and is selecting people to save...

would they likey save frontline NHS staff? im thinking specifically "emergency medical dispatchers" - the people that answer 999 calls. i was thinking about paramedics and technicians - but surley there would be enough doctors to save instead - after all, doctors are much more qualified than paramedics... which im why im not that sure E.M.D's would be "saved" as it were.

this started as a debate between friends who would be saved and who wouldnt! i was hoping i would be - im an EMD - but my mum is also a nurse of 30 years - so im thinking she would be saved - and hopefully we could tag along. although i know my mum bless her, if they wanted to save just my mum she would refuse to go without her family.

so whatcha think? do you think EMD's would be saved?

depends how much time they have to plan and arrange. But I imagine it would end up a farce like the film "When worlds Collide". They did have a system and attempted to save a usefull cross section of society but in reality those with dosh used it to jump the queue etc etc, corrrupt officials selected their friends and relatives. On the other hand it could end up like the Golgfrinchams in H2G2!
