There is not doubt Tommy is a political prisoner.
The support he is getting cant be ignored.
Now it is protests, next it will be violence.
People have reached breaking point.

Talbot - We've been down this path before......

I say that there could have been ramifications from his (unwelcome) presence, and you disagree.

I acknowledge that there were very good personal reasons why Yaxley/ Lennon/Robinson ought to have kept his trap shut and the 'record function' on his 'phone off, and you disagree.

He was taken to Court where the 'suspended' part of his previous sentence (for doing the same thing) was revoked, which I believe was entirely appropraite, and you disagree.
He probably has accepted it and, given the chance, I daresay he'd do it all again.

I for one think the sentence was disproportionate, the rapidity with which the entire process was completed highly alarming and will in no way deter Mr Robinson from resuming his stance when he's freed. If anything he'll be incentivised by what he perceives to be a highly flawed judicial system.

Additionally, support for Mr Robinson appears to be growing rather than waning.
nope..he is a loud mouthed self serving thug.. always will be ...hoping to be made a martyr to promote himself...
nom..he has a history ..
..and he will only end up in the same place until he observes the correct procedure for protest
There'll be a statue of Tommy in Parliament Square one day. (Opposite the Donald Trump one)
Some of you will still know nothing.
EEK !
He knows what he’s doing I’d say. Without thesr deliberate violations of court orders he sinks back into anonymity. This is a very good way to get publicity and whip up a persecution mentality
I agree, ich.

Part of me suspects that he was well aware that his actions might jeopardize the trial and was hoping they would so that he could keep using it to self-publicize.
Can you imagine the Headline News, Naomi Pankhurst chained to the railings of Buckingham Palace, with a placard around her neck saying "Free Tommy Robinson"

Don't be ridiculous, spicey. We all know Donny will be going up in Manezhnaia Square.

Preferably opposite the Four Seasons. With a nice big "golden fountain" ;)

Preferably
Will that be the statue next to Thatcher Spice?
I tend to agree with NoMercy on the disproportionate and alarming speed he was 'done' but to be honest I cannot condone at all what he did.

Attempting to interfere with the judicial system is plain stupid and very wrong.
Theland - you are assured in your position regarding 'Tommy Robinson' - that he is a victim of government suppression, and he is a folk hero, freedom fighter, and all round good egg.

There are those who agree with you, and those that do not - but this debate is really not getting anywhere, except for people endlessly to repeat their opposing views.

From such pseudo-interest, is 'Tommy Robinson's income and reputation constructed.

In response to your OP- no I do not agree.

It was neither disproportionate nor alarming. I can understand how it might appear so but contempt of court is normally dealt with swiftly by the trial judge and there are sound reasons for doing so.
He pleaded guilty to breaking the law as any intelligent person should know.

As he himself has said, if you don't like or want to abide by the laws of this country, you know where the airport is.
Nelson Mandela was a political prisoner, and look what happened to him, he became President, just imagine a few years from now at PMQs
Prime Minister Thomas Robinson standing at the despatch box. Oh my GAWD, we would have answerbank melt down , heart attacks all round.
If you watch his videos (carefully edited, of course) he comes across as a calm and rational person discussing matters of genuine public concern. His image supersedes his message.
gulliver - // Nelson Mandela was a political prisoner, and look what happened to him, he became President … //

The major difference between Mr Mandela, and Doctor King, and Ms. Parkes, and virtually everyone who has fought, and indeed died for the cause of civil liberty, is that it was never 'about them' - it was always about the change they were trying to make in the world.

The issue with 'Tommy Robinson' is that the focus is entirely on him personally, and not the changes he claims he wants to make.

Unlike the figures to whom he is incorrectly compared - he is a self-aggrandising egotist who needs publicity and attention like the rest of use need oxygen.
// Do you agree? //

Robinson has always surrounded himself with his football hooligan mates. It is mainly those people who are causing disorder weekly, in their campaign to free him.
Robinson pleaded guilty in Court, so to say he is a pilitical prisoner is bonkers.
