i can't avoid tourists they are here all year round.
i look forward to the day off work and, as i live in a market town, an extr large market
me too. I usually stay home on bank hols, bit as it was a nice rainy day here, me and the dogs went off to spend money in my favourite craft shop (me) and to scoff costas ginger cookies in the car (the dogs)
Well, I don't live near a touristy place, so no problem there for me. I do avoid showing my face in public on Bank Holidays, because of traffice, parking problems, etc., but as I'm retired that isn't a problem for me.
Twice this week I've wanted to nip into Windsor. First time HM was doing a walkabout and this weekend it's a no go because of tourists who dawdle, stop dead in front of you or just irritate you by the very fact that they are breathing!
Hello mrs O,
just in from B & Q ... hasn't been too bad really for crowds. Overherd this conversation on the bus .. little girl to mum who had seen a sign on a shop 'Old & New' ... that's like us mum .. you're old & I'm new!! :0)

So true Eccles.
The ones that annoy me most are those that walk three abreast on the pavement, all with an ice cream in one hand, a ciggie in the other and keep stopping dead to point at things
out of the mouths of babes eh leilia?
Mr. c dosen't see the point in getting involved in endless traffic jams!
Do you remember the Victor Meldrew sketch where he was stuck in traffic with
his wife and mrs, warboys and that hilarious tape!
Pretty much so, yes.
Will pop out for a beer later when tourists have left,
My local is practically on the beach.
We have a market every Monday and bank holidays are the days when the locals don't visit the market and leave it to the visitors.
The crowds increase almost as much as the prices.

^ lol! ... something that annoys me .. is letting young children roam up and down on a moving bus!

My pet bugbear is the tourists that feed the seagulls, despite there being signs everywhere telling them not to
I went into town today purely for the Sweeps Festival - we didn't stay for long but enough time to see the Sweeps and some Morris Dancing
Ended up going elsewhere as well
Came home as it started raining
I thought it was mandatory for all tourist family units to dawdle, x abreast completely blocking pathways to the mere mortal residents who actually have stuff to do.
For those of us no longer working all a Bank Holiday means is reduced bus timetables and shop hours. It was only when I found that my store did not open till 10 this morning that I realised it was a Bank Holiday.
Would have gone out today if it hadn't been rainy and cold, probably for a drive into the country and a pub lunch. OH taking me out for a pizza this evening now instead !
