I ordered an item and was delivered as agreed by Amazon today - but I did not order via Prime - I am always aware of how accidentally you can do it. But looked into my account there and right enough it said you only have 6 days trial.

Did Amazon just automatically give me this or was it my fault again. I have cancelled said membership

You must have got a free I months trial which has only 6 days left to go JJ ?
If you choose the 'free delivery' .. you will be automatically be accepting a free Prime trial.
You'll have accidentally selected the wrong option somewhere during the order process. Even after you've initially rejected Prime, you can still find the offer included at the p&p stage, meaning that you need to reject it TWICE.
arr jj, just get prime :)

why bednobs - isn't £79.99 or something - that's right Chris - I had to reject it time and time again.
It's very easy to select Prime during the ordering process, a nasty cunning ploy on Amazon's part. Caveat Emptor.
I had an interesting one the other week; I tried to buy something from Amazon and it was impossible without having a free trial of Prime - other delivery options had been greyed-out. I ordered it via Ebay instead at a slightly higher price and it was delivered via Amazon Prime. I think some entrepreneur has taken out Prime membership (or is having a free trial) and he orders things from Amazon to be delivered to a different address and charges a price slightly above the Amazon price.

very interesting BHG - like I can't work that one out
What is going on there is a seller will be offering delivery through an affiliate link and receiving commision everytime they get a buyer to accept a Free Prime Trial.
Affiliate links ofter pay double figure commisions for a referral !!
Thanks ginge - my speculation was right, then.
I carefully avoid agreeing to Prime, but still have found myself on a free trial twice. A very odd company.
bhg, ginge's link states that drop-shopping is a possibility it is more likely that the seller simply uses Amazon's Fulfilment Centre to distribute goods that he stores in one of Amazon's warehouses but doesn't necessarily buy those goods from Amazon.
Many companies find Amazon's delivery and storage facilities to be competitively priced
Ring your credit card to stop payment to amazon prime.
You don't have to do that Tambo, you can cancel your membership on the Amazon site reasonably easily.
Jj. Do you use Amazon regularly? I do and have prime, quick delivery only 7.99 month .
If you have six days trial left then there is still six days to cancel without getting a card company involved.
It takes about four clicks to cancel on your Amazon account.
Strange. Just had a scam call saying thanks for renewing your Prime account. Put the phone down.
I worked out that Prime saved me about £100 pa, more when I am crafting as I can order quite a few items for each project, you really need to be ordering at least three items a month ... I am usually around the 10-12 mark so it works for me.
er some time ago you got onto a page which said

press foo! and you did
and you should have gone down to the end of the page and pressed the tiny tiny - no not prime this time thanks - button

once you get used to it
you know the kinda places they lurk ( the tiny tiny no prime buttons)
