Better late than never good evening excel had a lovely evening walk be it a bit on the chilly side but soon warmed up
should see the weather down here, it's blowing such a hoolie that you would end up in France if you tried walking.....
You're not flooded are you DT? The weather hee has been almost spring like
Question Author
Lol DT batten down the hatches
No, sibs, but these major squalls almost tropical in intensity are sweeping through. We were treated this afternoon to a spectacular double rainbow in the river Fal as we were eating lunch this afternoon.....as to flooding we had problems with the drive two weeks ago, washed out in part, but the water ended up in a lower field than around the house....the building is some 150 ft I guess above the nearest river - the land and the drive out there absolutely sodden and the lanes quite dangerous with the grit and detritus that has swept down.
Is this all part of global warming? DT I'm relieved your house is not affected but really dangerous conditions, take care xxx
thank goodness all the repairs on the outer fabric are done, so there are no issues with leaks etc which would have happened a year ago.....I've no need to be outside in this tonight and we'll take tomorrow as it comes.
Now there's a question to follow a slap up meal at our nearest and dearest neighbours. With one less digestif might have managed a more coherent answer but broadly the answer is yes sibs. We are living in a period of climate change which will involve more extreme weather.
my views on the global warming argument are fairly controversial being geologically trained, with a particular focus on glaciology......probably not for here tonight! However, in short, we still have a poor knowledge of CO2 and other gases like NOx and SOx and do not know the full impact on weather behaviour (and there have been similar periods where the polar ice has shrunk with weather extremes - such as around Magna Carta when the UK was even warmer than today), not that I am condoning belching things into the environment or stripping our resources. I do not support that.
I deliberately avoided getting involved with causes DT and it is evident that climate is cyclical. Gunz Mindel Riss and Wurm will be old friends of your I guess. Best wishes for 2013.
Not to mention brussel sprouts, but DT I worked with an expert who refused to live closer than 30 miles from the coast and that involved a lot of high ground
Blimey !
Some of those answers were a bit intense for Xmas day !!!
(assuming the "average" alcohol intake of a vast majority of the population) Then again, a vast majority of the population consider Vodka a soft drink(!) personally, I think it's not the sea levels rising - it's the island sinking !
(Before anyone gets upset - read as "tongue in cheek")
a good philosophy, debsy, and who knows....that's part of the problem for London! so if we convert seawater into vodka, would that change everything?
No - not so much philosophy, more an observation, but if you could find a way of doing that - you'd probably make a fortune !
don't buy futures in potatoes then!
