"How Much Do You Know About Science?"
More than the average journalist I would say. The level of science reporting in the country (and many others) is woeful. I've never understood why it's apparently acceptable in the main stream media to employ a "science correspondent" who doesn't any scientific training or qualifications whatsoever.
One person who springs to mind is Roger Harrabin of the BBC. He's the BBC's Environment Analyst and one of their senior journalists on the environment and energy. His Wikipedia entry regarding his education and qualifications says, "... he studied English at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, where he was president of the Junior Common Room. He started a college newspaper.". That's it. That's the entire entry. On his LinkedIn page it lists his qualifications as, "MA (Cantab)".
MA? Masters of the Arts? A basic qualification in the field of the humanities, social sciences or fine arts?!? And this guy is the BBC's Environment Analyst.
Astonishing.
