How pleasant it is to be back in one's own home after the recent flurry of social activity.
I do hope all went well in our absence ?

The recycling bin did seem a tad full this week, but I expect all that glass came from the Home next door. They are rather an unruly lot there.

I believe that there is a Rollover Raffle tonight, so buy your tickets often and early.

Unfortunately tonight's speaker , the well known clairvoyant Miss T Ickmeg, has had to cancel due to a mouldy ball. If any members have 'the gift' , could they please make their way to the upper lesser hall where we will be happy to receive them.

A peasant stuck in the drawbridge? You could be right alex but I am not going to have a look. It might be a bit messy and will put me off these lovely cucumber sandwiches and green vol-au-vents. Is the accident insurance up to date. These peasants are so wont to sue for the slightest little thing.

I was offering advice as to what you might like to read, starbucky, not what I read.
The lady is of course always on order as we never know when we might need to advertise for new staff.

LadyAlex on a serious note The Earth Children Series is about a young girl brought up by Neanderthals although she is more advanced and tells how she leaves the tribe to make her own way in life and the various people she meets on the way. Briliantly written and researched

I tried to read the Tarot Cards once ladyalex but I was not very successful. In the end they drummed me out of the fairytale club, stripped me of my virtual spirit cloak and ritually burned my Tarot Cards, so I cannot volunteer for Miss T. Ickmeg's job.

I have brought a box of beano's and dandies for the raffle, a bit dog earred but still very comical.

Great books Alex. For sheer escapism, have you tried the Dragon Riders of Pern Series, originally by Anne McCaffrey, now joined by her son Tod?
If Lady Alex needs to add to her library the series of books about Amelia Peabody, by Elizabeth Peters would be appropriate.
A Victorian hoot to begin with, set in Egypt and a Queen Anne mansion in Kent. (Aside. What date is this mausoleum anyway?)
Archaeologists beset by crooks. Very funny, again well researched, follows the growing family so far to the first world war. Quite fun identifying the real people in the book.
(sighs) Never met a man with sapphirinic eyes.
