I don't have any family as such and as awful as it sounds, since my mother died it's like a weight has been lifted. Unfortunately, you can't choose your family. Great to hear that the kids are doing well and that your husband is not being a pain, x
Would it be a bad thing if i just kept away from my side of the family i.e brothers and sisters, they are so mean to me. I am always expected to drop everything to do stuff for them, and when i say no, they make comments, talk behind my back!!! not realising i have 3 children to look after, and when things are going fine for me, they start making me choose between my family and them in an indirect kind of way. I'm fed up.
Its like they want me to be somewhere, and i say i cant as Polly doesn't like staying with anyone, they say oh yeah we understand, but then behind my back they *** me off saying oh look at her playing happy families etc etc

Phleb, you do what is right for you. You can't be a doormat for the rest of your family - your own children and husband (and you) come first, you're not everyone else's priority.
No, there is no problem in distancing yourself, you're not at their beck and call, you're a grown positive woman with a family of your own to consider. Tell them to go whistle - if they don't like it, it's their problem, not yours.
