The only time that I have ever seen him in the flesh was in the Deep Throat Hotel, sorry Queen's Moat, in Glasgow with the Lord Mayor.....his behaviour was so boorish that it was highly embarrassing......... I was never his biggest fan, if at all, the only one worse being the Rev Ian Paisley on a return flight from Nairobi and we couldn't get off the BA cigar tube........

<<why now..?
Because it`s coming up to the one year anniversary of his death. I know he`s not here to defend himself but if there is any truth to the allegations, I wouldn`t be a bit surprised. He always struck me as one of those immature men who was tied to his mummy`s apron strings and couldn`t form normal relationships with real women in the real world. I always found him a bit scary when I was a kid and a kid`s instincts can be very accurate sometimes.

I remember the allegations about Gary Glitter that came to light when he was caught with images on his computer. There were quite harrowing tales from some of his daughter`s friends about what he did to them. Many years had passed and there was not enough evidence to convict him. I suspect the same situation will arise as to Jimmy Savile`s reputation. Stories will abound, his reputation will suffer but there will also be people who choose to ignore the stories and continue to respect his charity work. There won`t be any conclusive evidence but mud sticks. He`ll remain an enigma.
In the 60's he used to travel through York every Sunday afternoon on his way back from his mum's in Scarborough to his flat in Leeds. In the summer he'd have the top down on the Rolls and wave to all the teenagers, he actually used to say "Hi all you guys and gals". We all used to think "What a Salads Chef".
